Wheatley Campground  (Wheatley, Ontario)
Wheatley is as nice as any campground Ive visited. Boosey creek , within the Wheatley campground is quiet with no electricity. Back to nature. Great for kids who want nature and not a carnival type atmosphere. NO noise , No partying teens. Lots of beach, and a few bike trails, no charge for the wild deer. Very safe with no predatory animals. I'll be back. If I could change one thing it would be the price of parking with the camp site. It is starting to approach the "for a few dollars more we can go to cedar point" mark. Charge one price for the camp site and let it be.

Beauvais Lake Campground  (Pincher Creek, Alberta)
Date of Visit: 29 June 2009 - 03 July 2009 Family: Mom, Dad, 4 year old, 3 month old Camping Experience: Low to Medium Vehicle: Hatchback Malibu Maxx Tent: 4 Man Columbia Bugaboo Dome Tent Misc: 15 1/2' Pelican Canoe Site#: 75 Weather: Max temp = 23.1°C | Min Temp = 5°C | No Rain, Sunny, Some windy days PROS: Sunshine Kid Friendly Pet Friendly Clean Quiet Natural Fishing, swimming, paddling CONS: Ants (not a deal breaker) Gravelled pads (not nice for tents) ======== After searching online for a campsite that met our requirements (Lake, Playground, Nature) we settled on Beauvais Lake and it was an almost perfect choice for us. Since Canada Day was on the Wednesday in the middle of our trip, I was a bit concerned about getting a spot and anticipated the park would be busy for the whole week. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived around 2:30pm on Monday afternoon to find the walk-in sites empty, and the RV sites nearly empty... The overnight camping sites in the park are actually divided into two areas - walk-in tenting sites, and drive-in RV/Tent sites (along with group sites, which I can't really comment on other than to say I walked through one and found the hut there was nice and seemed like it would be fun to sit in and tell stories with a large group of friends). We initially wanted a walk-in tent site, as we did not want to tent near the RVs and the walk-in sites were in a more secluded and "natural" area. However, the tenting sites were one of the few issues we had with this awesome park. There were ants, ants, and more ants... Every site had at least some ants, which we maybe could have put up with, but the site we wanted also had a bird's nest right at the edge of the tall grass, with momma bird fiercely defending it. This combined with the fact that the park practices "Bare Campsite" (meaning you have to store your food and "smelly" items in your vehicle) which meant a 5 min walk for meals made us decide to go to the "RV" side of the park to see what was available. And now comes the second and only other complaint about this campground - the sites on the RV/Tent side are all gravel - not nice for tenting on. We looked at all of the available spots and decided #75 was the best for tenting. It was near the entrance to the campsites, only one other lot nearby, close to the lake and trails, and reasonably close to an outhouse. There was an open area behind the lot overlooking an open marsh type area (not very wet, but not completely dry) that gave the site a wide open feel. We pitched our tent near the back of the site, after moving all of the large and/or sharp pebbles we could find. Bringing a footprint/groundsheet for the tent would have made this less of an issue, but we don't have one for this tent yet so sharp rocks were definitely a concern. The site was almost perfect, moderate sun in the morning, good sun around noon, then trees offering shade in the afternoon meant it never really got too hot for us or the kids. Since we were practicing "Bare Campsite", we left our cooler and canned/dry food in the car. Which as I mentioned before would have been annoyingly far if we were in one of the walk-in tent sites. The lot came with a picnic table and a fire pit with a half-grill on it, perfect for steak or hot dogs. Neighbours - As we found out, everyone in the park seemed really friendly and would say hi on their way to fish or hike, many with their dogs or kids in tow. There were lots of bikes zipping around the campground as well. No one was loud, in fact we barely ever heard *anyone*, even on Canada Day after the park had reached almost capacity... Hiking/Boating - To our dismay, the lake was a touch windy on most days for us to take our canoe out, since we have an infant and toddler, and we are just getting used to canoeing. But on the days where the wind was calm (or in the morning and evenings) the water was perfect for canoeing, and the lake was a good size for paddling across in about 30-40 mins to hike or play on the other side. We play the sport of Geocaching, and were pleased to find (before leaving) that there were 3 caches in the park. One was a nice leisurely walk, the other we could not find (but saw some interesting things on the way) and the third was a 1 hour hike up a hill to a spectacular view of the park, the surrounding plains, and the Rocky mountains. We stayed in this campground for a week, and I have to say it is one of the best campsites we have been to. Good for kids, dogs, bikes, young, old, RVs, tents, hikers, and fishers. If I were to submit a suggestion to Parks Canada, it would be to make the "RV" side of the park a little more tent friendly (i.e. a few grass lots) There are two playgrounds here, with swings, slides, and monkey bars, great for kids. On the way home we stopped at Head-Smashed-in Buffalo Jump (really cool) and the Candy Store in Nanton (mmmm, sugar) Enjoy your stay in this amazing park P.s. It is only a 30 minute drive to the town of Pincher Creek, where the Walmart Super Centre will provide you with anything you've forgotten, and a hospital if you need it.

Tobermory Village Campground  (Tobermory, Ontario)
We just spent our family vacation here and we were thrilled. Everything is super clean, we had a beautiful large campsite. The kids had fun with the horsewagen rides and petting zoo. They also loved the pool and the special playground and the paddle boats. The people there were all very friendly and helpful. We'll be back!

Woodland Lake Camp and RV Resort  (Bornholm, Ontario)
Manager were VERY RUDE.. Our first Camping experience gone worst. We were Treated like an animal... they forgot to give us the gate pass when we check in. so i ring a bell on the office at 8:15 am where office open at 9 am, to open the gate. the manager start swearing at us and give us 30 mins to pack up and leave his camp ground. were sorry that we wake him up but he kept swearing..he added he will call cops to escort us out.. so we wait for the cops to arive to hear our complain too.

Kootenay/Red Streak  (Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia)
You can hike or drive from your campsite into Radium. The mountain goats and deer were constantly roaming through the campground and the facilities were freshly painted and well maintained. Our campsite was large and quite private.

Situated right near the heart of Canmore, walking distance to restraunts and shopping. Sites are good size but the construction is unfortunate. Backing on the creek kept the dogs happy and the ducks quacking.

Knights Beach Resort  (Dunnville, Ontario)
Extremely expensive considering they DON'T put any money into the upkeep and/or maintenance of the washrooms which are disgusting!! The sites are small and muddy. Some of the playground equipment was broken. The only positive thing at Knight's Beach is the beach!!

Camping la Vague  (Miscou Island, New Brunswick)
We have went to Camping LaVague twice over the past couple of years. It's a very nice little campground very friendly owners a clean site. The washrooms were refinshed last year, you would think your at home. the nice colors and always clean showers plus the toilets are private. It's a very relaxeing place. We walked for hours along the beach. The nature is realy pristeen.

we had a great time friendly staff clean washrooms and there free close to sandbanks they have a private beach slide in the water. kids had a blast wagon rides are lots of fun manager keeps everyone singing and you get a treat at end of ride. Check this campground out you won't be disapponent. We love it. new owners and new managers was the best thing that has happened to the park. we have been here many times but last year was the best time. 2008 season we are booked for this vacation cheers

Jay Lake Campground and RV Park  (Minden, Ontario)
This is a very friendly campground. The seasonal are welcoming. They have a private lake that is stocked yearly with rainbow trout. every one that stays there has access to paddle boats,canoes, pfd and paddles. it also has a playground,rec hall and heated swimming pool. Across the lake they have none electrical sites for tents and small trailers. nature walk needs inprovement. dont have to many full hook up but they do have hydro.

Ellison Park  (Summerland, British Columbia)
Another beautiful provincial park on the shores of Okanagan Lake, near Vernon BC. Lots to do, including hiking, rock climbing, and scuba diving (there is a dive park within the provincial park, with sunken boats to explore). Fantastic beaches on two bays, pet beach, incredible scenery, and great views from the hills and cliffs. BC Provincial Parks don't have hookups, but the sites are spacious, well maintained, and private. Washrooms are decent. This park is close to Vernon, with shopping, restaurants, more beaches, and lots to do.

Okanagan Lake Park  (Summerland, British Columbia)
Beautiful provincial park just off the highway between Summerland and Peachland. Large, well maintained sites, with plenty of green space between. The north park sits on a terraced hillside, with Okanagan Lake at the bottom of the hill, the south park is flatter, on the lakeshore, with less spacious sites. The park is home to over 10,000 planted trees - many not native to the region, and is close to some of the best beaches in BC. Washrooms are decent, but we've been there a few times when there was no hot water for showers. Overall though, we really like this park!

Lakeside Village Motel and Campground  (Wheatley, Ontario)
We've stayed at this campground 3 times now and will definatly return. Although there isn't a lot to do on the campground itself, there is lots to do in the area. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Best of all are the views of Lake Erie. All I can say is WOW! One week-end there was a thunderstorm that was just amazing (AMAZING!) to watch as it came in off the lake. Even though it was windy, the bluff along the lake protected us from the worst of it. A beautiful place to spend a quiet week-end.
